The PADI IDC Gili Islands is held here at Trawangan Dive, the first established PADI Career Development Center in Lombok and the Gili Islands. The dive center offers an entire range of career development programs and one of the most interesting being the Biorock Coral Conservation Program which is run in direct partnership with Biorock Indonesia. The course is designed to complement your professional training and allow those with a passion for the environment do what they love doing whilst also developing a career as a PADI Instructor
During the Biorock Coral Conservation Program participants will learn about the environmental impacts upon coral reefs and some of the ways in which we can all help to minimize the damage. Participants learn the art of coral gardening with a viewpoint of identifying coral that has been broken but has not yet died, and transplanting these corals onto the artificial Biorock reef structures. Participants will also get the chance to assist in building their own Biorock structure, installing it an applying the low voltage. Once the course is over students are always welcome to volunteer and help maintain the current Biorock structures.
The prerequisite for the PADI IDC Course is to already be a certified PADI Divemaster, be over 18 years old and to have over 100 dives and have been a certified diver for over 6 months. Once the course is finished and participant have also taken the PADI Emergency First Response Course they will be able to teach the full range of PADI recreational courses except for specialty programs unless they undertake the specialty instructor training. The Prerequisites for the Biorock Indonesia Program is to be a certified PADI Advanced Diver and to have a passion for the environment.
The PADI IDC Indonesia Instructor Training Course runs at Trawangan Dive’s exclusive PADI CDC Center once a month on an 11 day schedule including 4 days pre-IDC prep. The course covers all the mandatory core elements from the PADI IDC Program and also includes some additional presentations and workshops including C.V and employment, Project Aware and the Revised Open Water Workshop. The C.V and employment workshop is designed to give candidates assistance in creating their first dive orientated C.V and a brief update on where to look for jobs. The Platinum PADI Course Director has seen many C.V’s over the years and will advise candidates on how to layout their C.V, likewise as the only CDC Center in the Lombok region she often gets information regarding local and international dive center job opportunities.
